Collecting wood and public donations to build classrooms
Donating wood
In 1400 (Solar Hijri) the Homa Foundation wrote a letter to the people of the region to advance the school building project and invited them to contribute trees (wood) and cash to support education and the construction of school buildings. Fortunately, this appeal was warmly welcomed and appreciated by the people. The people of Almitoo contributed both woods and cash for the roofing and metal covering of the rooms. This was a clear sign of their trust in the Homa Foundation and their willingness to take part in building a shared home.
The people of Almitoo made significant contributions in two phases toward the roofing and metal covering of the rooms. According to the Homa Foundation’s database, more than 220 individuals took part in this effort. The collected timber exceeded the needs of the Almitoo Boys’ School, so a portion was donated for the metal roofing of SiahQol Primary School. The remaining wood was then used for the metal roofing of the bathrooms at Shahyar Sultan Girls’ High School, as well as for completing the remaining sections of that school’s roof.
Cash donation
As the people of Almitoo saw the progress of the school and gained confidence in the transparency of the Homa Foundation’s work, they stepped forward to contribute financially as well. Despite having limited means, they gave according to their ability in support of education. The Homa Foundation’s database records 57 local donors who, through their valuable contributions, raised a total of around 30,000 Afghanis.
